Your images stay on your device

CompressTo processes images locally in your browser. Image files, image contents, filenames, generated blob URLs, and download names are not uploaded to CompressTo or sent to Google Analytics.

Google Analytics

With your permission, CompressTo uses Google Analytics 4 to understand site usage and improve the website and compressor. Analytics may collect information such as pages visited, approximate location, browser and device information, referral source, session activity, and interactions with the compression tool.

Tool events contain only technical measurements such as image format, file sizes, compression reduction, duration, and non-personal error categories. They do not contain image files, image contents, filenames, blob URLs, or user-entered personal information.

Analytics is off by default. Google Analytics is not loaded and no analytics requests are sent unless you select Accept analytics. You may select Reject analytics and use every compression feature normally. You can change your choice later using Cookie settings in the footer.

Website requests and local preferences

Local image processing does not mean the website makes no network requests. Your browser requests pages and assets from our hosting service and, on article pages, images from Sanity’s content delivery service. Providers receive connection information such as your IP address and browser request headers. Those requests do not upload the image you select for compression.

Your browser stores site preferences such as your theme and Analytics choice. With your permission, Google Analytics may use cookies or similar identifiers to measure visits. You can reject Analytics in Cookie settings or clear stored site data in your browser. Clearing that data resets your preferences.

Advertising and your choices

This release does not load advertising code. We have applied to Google AdSense. If advertising is enabled, third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies, web beacons, IP addresses or other identifiers to serve and measure ads. Advertising cookies can allow Google and its partners to personalize ads based on visits to this site and other sites. Your selected image and filename are not part of that advertising data.

You can manage Google’s personalized advertising at My Ad Center and find participating third-party choices at YourAdChoices. Learn more about how Google uses information from partner sites. Opting out of personalization does not necessarily remove all ads.

The current Analytics preference is not consent to advertising. Before advertising is enabled, the applicable advertising consent controls and vendor disclosures must be in place. In regions requiring it, advertising choices will be handled through a Google-certified consent management platform.

If you email us, we receive the information you choose to include so we can address your enquiry. Please do not send confidential images or passwords. We cannot retrieve an image processed only in your browser. You control local originals and downloaded copies on your device.
